Post a career in the financial industry, Mr. Dhar transitioned into the role of a social innovator, guiding IBEL (Hong Kong’s educational NGO) frontline and solution providing services since the start of operations in January 2015. IBEL has consistently exhibited immense resilience and unwavering commitment in serving 280 of Hong Kong’s educationally marginalized, socio economically less fortunate Non Chinese Speaking children, with a special emphasis on nurturing their Chinese language learning proficiency. Mr. Dhar is firmly committed to facilitating the social integration and upward mobility of these underserved children, by providing them with a holistic environment that nurtures their academic, physical and mental well being. The objective is to facilitate their cultural immersion and social integration via the medium of Chinese language learning and the appreciation of Chinese culture. As a Hong Konger, he takes immense pride in the resolute commitment of the IBEL team to keep it’s 2 EDB registered learning centers fully functional and operational in the service of the less fortunate daughters and sons of Hong Kong, through the most challenging of social unrest and covid pandemic times.
In April 2024, IBEL, in another path-breaking initiative, inaugurated it’s first Kindergarten school. The IBEL Rusy and Purviz Shroff Charitable Foundation Kindergarten is an inclusive and equal educational opportunities providing school , situated in Tsim Sha Tsui that welcomes all children and is committed towards making them proficient tri linguists with competence in Chinese (including Putonghua) and English.
In 2017, Mr. Dhar was crowned Champion of the Operation Santa Claus/ UBS NGO Leadership Programme. In 2021, he accepted the SCMP Classified Post HR Appreciation NGO Covid-19 Special Award. In August 2022, the Honourable Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, presented him with the Excellence Award at the India Association Hong Kong’s event.
Mr. Dhar is a keen sports enthusiast, who enjoys music, movies and spending time with his family.
