Many adolescents grow up seeing their parents every day, but never knowing who they really are.
“Stories That Stay” is a school-based storytelling program that empowers 80 underprivileged adolescents aged 15 – 16 to reconnect with their parents through guided interviews and storytelling. Each participant creates a printed biography for their parent, complete with voice recordings and reflections. In a city where youth rarely speak deeply with their parents, this project creates space for meaningful dialogue. Adolescents gain not only a treasured keepsake, but also a stronger sense of identity, empathy, and emotional healing—while preserving stories that might otherwise be forgotten.
