“Pitching day was the most memorable. I had the chance to learn more about public speaking — preparing precise slides and building narratives that can move the funders in five minutes,” 2023 SSILP alumnus, Agnes Hui shared at the information session of the HKU-UBS SSILP on January 9.
Agnes Hui, Communications and Development Officer of HELP for Domestic Workers, joined SSILP in 2023 to further her professional skills and knowledge. As part of the programme, she had developed a project HELP Circle Community Leadership Programme (Leadership and Communication Skills Enhancement modules) and presented a five-minute pitch for a funding opportunity of HKD 400,000.
When asked how SSILP has impacted her, she shared, “it must be the UBS mentor and alumni mentors. They unreservedly shared their experiences and knowledge on how to actualize and implement my project ideas.” One of the key features of the Programme include continuous mentorship support provided by senior members of UBS and from alumni throughout the 6-month programme.
“Talented peers in the cohort also inspired me with their amazing projects. Lastly, not to forget the greats, all the trainers we had in the class who shared both successes and challenges they faced with their nonprofit works.” Participants will attend 9 in-person sessions along with self-paced online learning.
