Dr. Jordan, currently Professor and Head of Social Work at James Cook University is an experienced social worker and social welfare scholar with research expertise in cross-cultural migration studies, global development challenges, and data-driven approaches to capacity building in the nonprofit sector. Her current research focuses on the long-term impact of temporary migration on families and migrants across Asia and Oceania.
Dr. Jordan has over 20 years of experience working with and leading large collaborative applied research studies with vulnerable populations and community organizations in lower and middle income countries across the world. In the past five years she has led consultancies for International Organization of Migration(IOM), Terres d’Hommes, Freedom Fund, Geneva Global and Centre for Asian Philanthropy as well as collaborating on numerous other consultancies for Hong Kong government and globally for organizations including UNICEF.
Dr Jordan also holds an honorary professorship at the University of Hong Kong Department of Social Work and Social Administration and Senior Researcher at the Center for Social Development of Africa at the University of Johannesburg.
