Breast cancer is one of the leading cancers in humans. The Chinese national breast cancer screening program has achieved limited success in the past 15 years through the conventional method due to low detection and coverage rate. This proposal aims to make reliable breast cancer screening available, accessible, and affordable to women in China through social innovation. The proposed strategy is the first of its kind worldwide, integrating cutting-edge technologies (“3D” ultrasound + AI + Telemedicine) and the establishment of temporary screening stations outside hospitals.

We plan to launch a pilot study offering free screenings to 3,000 women at 15 different locations across Shenzhen over five months, followed by an evaluation conducted by a panel of cross-sector experts.

Successful outcome of this pilot study and positive evaluation will position our screening approach for government endorsement and funding for breast cancer screening, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the project.

Our innovative screening strategy is expected to increase the early cancer detection rate by 4-fold and ultimately improve patient survival while reducing the screening costs by 15%, potentially benefiting 300 million women in China and more in other Asian countries and regions, including Hong Kong.
