WildKin helps people outside conservation use the roles they already have to protect wildlife. Today, WCS usually reaches such people through existing institutional relationships and professional partners. This keeps us within familiar circles and misses many whose everyday decisions shape what the public sees, learns and accepts about exotic pets.
WildKin will test a practical four-step method: find people others miss; show how their role matters; support one real change; and help others repeat it.
Over 12 months in the Greater Bay Area, the project will build a more diverse group able to act for wildlife through roles and resources they already have. Their actions will also help consumers make safer choices and reduce welfare, health and financial risks linked to exoticpet ownership.
