In South-East Asia, millions of children suffer from the absence of their mothers, who work as migrant domestic workers in neighbouring countries. Despite the financial support they receive, maternal absence has sadly been shown to negatively affect these children’s future life perspectives, impacting their mental health and disrupting their education. Uplifters’ free online course on long-distance parenting aims to equip migrant domestic workers with the skills and support needed to maintain strong relationships with their children despite the distance, ultimately helping them achieve their goal of providing better futures for their families.
