The Nature Connection Companion Community Co-existence Project (NCCCC) is a preventive mental well-being model designed for underprivileged junior secondary students to build the protective factors they need before stress and disengagement become entrenched. The project adopts an evidence based, low-cost Nature Connection Approach to support students’ emotional well-being, resilience, and social connectedness during a key developmental stage.
Through a 4C Nature Healing Cycle – Cultivate, Connect, Capacitate, Co-create, students build self-compassion, develop peer and community connection, grow into well-being ambassadors, and co-create neighborhood “15-minute Well-being Community Circles”. Through this model, students are not only receiving support but transforming as an active contributor to a more caring, resilient and connected community.
The project will collaborate with 8 secondary schools, train 8 cohorts of student well-being ambassadors (around 15 students preschool), and co-create eight “15 minutes Well-being community circle” in the neighborhood, extend the well-being support beyond the classroom into the local community.
The successful implementation and evaluation of this mental well-being model built in the junior secondary school system will provide a strong evidence base for wider school adoptions and future funding, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the project.
